| Kabelo Makola passed with a Upper Second class honours degree in December 2009. He had the following to say about the college: "There is a warm aura about Blake Hall College, which you immediately experience as you set foot in the door. The staff is impressive, overly qualified and competent not to mention friendly. The lecturers in particular are the driving force that helps you succeed and achieve what you set out to achieve, not forgetting the fellow students. It has been an invaluable experience to be amongst such strong willed, hard working individuals and be taught by such lecturers." |

Academic Resources
Harvard Referening
Students need to ensure that all coursework handed in for assessment is properly referenced and free of plagiarism.
- An explanation of plagiarism and the need for proper referencing, distributed by NCC Education, can be found here.
- Anglia Ruskin University Library has a full list of examples showing how to reference in text using Harvard Referencing. The resource is available here.
- A more informal explanation of referencing is available from the School of on the website for the University of Huddersfield School of Education and Professional Development, and can be found here.
Student Websites
An increasing number of companies request examples of previous work when advertising a position. We want our students to be marketable and to this end we encourage all students to create a presence on the website. This may include anything from a simple page, created using the wiki platform, to complete sites.
These platforms can be used to showcase the assignments and projects you complete during your studies, as well as any side projects you may be working on. You may choose to include a blog, progress updates and sample code or use the site to test the implementation of new technologies.
We suggest that students start by creating a wiki-based page on the college web site. However, if you need space to create a site from scratch as part of your portfolio, you are welcome to request this. All requests can be directed to the Computing Course Leader.
